Parchment Background Image for My Projects: My Adventures In SketchUp: CSO Study - GTT’s Hedge Maze on FlightToAtlantis.net

Since I 've made planters and display bases for the in-game insect house I’d been wondering if I could come up with a replacement CSO that lined up just as accurately for GTT’s Hedge Maze CFR. This SketchUp exported image will show that I’ve begun meeting this modelling challenge and have come up with a trial 1m high wall replacement CSO for GTT’s Hedge Maze.

I have applied a trial texture and imported it into the game to see if I’ve gotten it lined up correctly with the paths as set out by GTT for the guests to follow inside his maze CFR.

I'm pleased with the way the placement and shape of this CSO has turned out - except for one minor tweak it's exactly right.

I can further review my options as to the sorts of hedge maze CSO’s it might be possible to create because this study has given me a foundation model on which I can explore ideas for additional development in SketchUp, for example:

With it's being 1m high I could make the wall hedge in a few wall textures and perhaps add a low railing along the top;

this model could also be painted with my Garden Hedges hedge texture and can become a 1m high box hedge maze CSO, perhaps with some topiary accents;

following the same outline I could make playing cards, dominoes, or candy cane maze CSO's;

decorative vines can be arranged on trellis for a garden orientated hedge maze CSO;

I could make a half meter wall height CSO accented with posts and railings;

with the CSO outline I’ve made I can follow that with path borders, railings, and columns;

a two meter wall height can be made with large openings and theming suggesting Italian Renaissance windows;

a small assortment of fabric or glass canopies can be made to go above some of the shorter hedge maze CSO’s; and

I could add to this set a few single-piece retaining wall CSO bases that come with flat modelled terrain so this CSO can be placed in terraformed parks, giving the appearance they’re on retained landscaping.

A CSO enhancement cover to give a different appearance to the tower in the center of GTT’s Hedge Maze Master is another possibility.

As you see I began by simply wondering if this was something I could do and now while considering further options, new possibilities are opening up. The first hedge maze CSO has been created for our POE Building 4 Set Presentation Park.

Stone bench enhancement covers have been made to cover the benches that come with this hedge maze CFR. These bench covers beautifully match the theming in our park and they make use of the wooden arm rests that come with GTT's original bench. A coordinated central fountain with mini obelisk have also been added.

As I progress with this set I shall include GTT’s Hedge Maze more often in my parks.
