Parchment Background Image for My Projects: Importing Items Into RCT3: CSO's I Have Imported: CFR & CTR CSO's Update, Page 2 on FlightToAtlantis.net

Magic Carpets Base

While I was delighted with this CFR during its first trials in our park I’m afraid we were not happy with the raised surface built into its base that revolved near the ground around this ride. This CFR CSO has been created to hide those revolving polys and to visually anchor the bottom of this CFR.

For our park we’ve updated the appearance of Magic Carpets with TexMod and I’m pleasantly surprised at how well this CSO’s textures match the ride’s TexMod textures. I really liked the narrow base that CFH Rides originally made for the genie bottle shape supporting the carpets but this new CSO base really grounds this ride and makes it look more substantial.

Don't our guests just look so comfortable and so regal when they ride Magic Carpets.

Balloon Flight Base

While Imagineer John’s Balloon Flight CSO base has seemed to be adequate at those times I have used it I would have preferred to have had a base that was not raised off the ground. Since I’ve been making my own scenery I’ve wondered if this is something that I could improve upon.

Sometimes a simple solution is best and my solution to this is definitely a simple one. Finding just the right texture for this CFR CSO took more time than making the model. The texture needed to:

remind me of the original compass design on Balloon Flight CSO base,

suggest it was made of stone or tile, and

possibly include letters displaying the points of the compass.

As all the armillary spheres in the park point towards north I didn’t think it essential I find a texture that had letters on it representing the points of the compass. I’d considered making a mini monument at the north of this CSO to suggest north but believed that would appear overdone and would detract from the smooth, clean appearance of this CSO floor.

As you see the Balloon Flight cable anchor I had previously made coordinates beautifully with this new CFR CSO.

Aquarium Entrance/Exit Arch

I’d been wanting to do over the entrance and exit that comes with Aquarium and while experimenting with a solution found that the only things I weren’t happy with were the transparent framing on the curved glass of the station piece, and the marine themed graphics that surround the access opening.

The framing and graphics are gone, now replaced with a CSO arch that matches the theming in our Port Of Entry presentation park. Inside the station, the appearance of this CFR CSO is complemented by a welcoming flagstone floor.
